Not the ones that have the integrated housings and buttons so it looks stock, but I’ve used other universal Chinese android head units

Well, on the couple I’ve had, I highly recommend them. I got a carplay adapter so I have Android Auto and Apple Carplay, in addition to all the apps you could ever want thanks to Android. I also got a BT OBD2 reader and paired it to the head unit for real-time data monitoring and code reading, it’s super useful. It’s a little quirky at first because they usually have some weird Chinese launcher on there, or a customs settings page, but it’s great once you figure that out. The aforementioned phone connectivity and obd2 capabilities make it great, and I have all of the usual streaming apps on there for when I’m killing time sitting in a parking lot or something. Overall, I highly recommend them (at least the couple that I’ve had, haven’t used the integrated one like in the OP)

Now that makes me curious. Could you flash something like LineageOS onto them?

Not sure about that, I just installed another launcher and that solved most of my complaints. I’d imagine someone out there has done it, but I haven’t looked into it. I do know that they can easily be rooted if necessary. Also, the backup camera they come with is terrible so I wouldn’t bother hooking it up unless you buy a better separate one from eBay (should be a standard coax connection IIRC)
Just adding to this for anyone else looking at these comments: I got a 10.5" android 9.0 head unit from eBay for ~$85, a carplay adapter for ~$15, and the OBD2 reader for ~$9 from Amazon. It does everything I need and more for a fraction of the cost of a name-brand one, and loads more than anything name-branded around the ~$100 mark
AMGtech - now with more recalls!

This is excellent information. I've been considering one for my R-class.

I got one for my Land Cruiser from a US seller, I haven’t installed it yet but the general consensus
on the forums and FB pages are fairly good. I have read you want to make sure to get the 6 or 8 core versions as they are newer, but being as this one runs Android 9 you shou
ld be okay
